Some people just don't get it. They buy your old an slightly rusty mountain bike with worn tyres, front suspension, new brakes and a new lock for €100, which is pretty cheap for a bike in Sweden. They have inspected it and they are made aware of the wornness of the tyres. They blow the tyre the same day.

They frikking call you demanding money (€30 "no penny less") for replacing the tyre or take the bike back and threaten with Swedish laws and lawyers. Probably just to scare the foreigners with unknown legislation.

Those laws threatened with are not applicable however (I can read Swedish, so I checked) and although the inner tyre probably gave out during filling because of age (and probably slight over-pressure by its new owner), you are not responsible for them making the situation "worse". Normally you would have been kind and given them money for the materials. But the person has threatened you with his brother the lawyer and you just wormed yourself out of a "take a decision now" situation to buy time to check his claims.

So you call back telling them you do not like being threatened and that his threats were ungrounded and want to leave it at that. He calls you cheap and repeatedly unfair. You do not say it is unfair, you just find it unfriendly, nothing more. The person has threatened you and has not cooled down.

The call ends nowhere and after some swearing from their side you just end the conversation with saying you will not do anything more.

Remember kids, just stay cool and if you think you need some "1-day warranty" about this kind of things, I think most people will agree to be reasonable. At the least stay friendly.

See this as a short rant, because it is one. Buttons are conveyors of action, when you press them, something will happen (hopefully). There are many types of buttons and they have different implications for what is on the label and how that relates to what happens when you press it.

For example, a more selection list style of button will display your current selection, while a dead simple button will show what will happen when you click it, right? Well, not everybody thinks this way, the following example show a trend I am seeing in multiple places:

They have a different approach to showing the quality, both are currently showing a lower quality stream. Guess which one is flawed?

Een Pandora reünie, hell yeah.

Ik loop al een langere tijd met dit idee rond en met langer bedoel ik een aantal jaar. De laatste tijd ben ik echter meer bezig met de invulling van dit idee en wil eigenlijk in het komende jaar (2012) het er echt eens van laten komen.

Het voorlopige idee is als volgt: een weekend lang (vrijdagmiddag tot en met zondagmiddag) op de campus puzzelen & schieten, met een goede vertrouwde dosis paranoia en gaafheid. Overnachtingen/HQs en catering wordt grotendeels geregeld door de organisatie.

Dit evenement gaat zeker geld kosten, maar met de focus op oud-pandora'ers moet dit wel goed komen. We kunnen echter daardoor misschien ook wel meer gave™ dingen doen!

De allergrootste vraag die je je nu moet stellen is: orga of deelnemer? Ik heb die keus al gemaakt en heb Matthijs al min of meer weten te strikken, maar ik wil natuurlijk dat iedereen gewoon meedoet. Denk je nu echt: "IK MOET ORGANISEREN OMG OMG OMG", mail mij dan even ;-)

Het idee achter de orga -- gezien het feit dat dit soort enthousiasme vaak niet heel lang stand houdt -- is als volgt: we gaan het idee uitwerken en kijken naar de haalbaarheid, we gaan puzzels maken en locaties verzinnen, maar de aankondiging komt pas zodra we er klaar voor zijn. Doel is natuurlijk ergens in 2012 als de zon schijnt ;-)

Ik heb al een paar gave (en haalbare) ideeën liggen en ben al begonnen een paar wat verder uit te werken, zonder dingen echt vast te leggen. Ondertussen wil ik de organisatie wel wat uitbreiden (met een man/vrouw of twee, niet te veel)...
